How to measure for your blinds

Blinds can either sit inside or outside of a window recess. When measure for them, please ensure to supply measurements:
• To the nearest 0.5cm for rollers blinds.
• To the nearest 1cm for roman blinds.

Inside of a Window Recess

1. Measure the length from top to bottom of the recess at both sides and in the middle. If there is a difference, use the smaller measurement.

2. Measure the width at the top of the window recess, the middle and at the bottom. Again, if there is a difference, use the smaller measurement.

Note: Roller fabric can be narrower than the ordered measurements.

Outside of a Window Recess

1. In order to obtain the length, measure from the required position above the window to the required length.

2. In order to obtain the width, measure the width of the window and add 7cm to each side (14cm total). This is allow for overlap at each side of the window.

Note: Roller fabric can be narrower than the ordered measurements.

How to measure for your curtains

When measure for curtains, please ensure to:
• Always measure in centimeters and use a metal tape measure.
• Install your track or pole before taking measurements.
• Ensure the track or pole is extended beyond the window at either side.
• Ensure the pole extends approximately 30cm from either side of the window when ordering goblet, cartridge and tab-headed curtains.

Measuring width:
• Measure the track or pole, not the window itself.

For tracks, measure the width from end to end.

If the track overlaps in the middle, include the overlap in your measurements.

For poles, measure the width between decorative finials.

Measuring Drop:

For tracks, measure from the top of the track to allow it to be hidden by the curtains.

The minimum depth of the track is 3.5cm from the top of the track to the bottom of the glider.

For eyelet curtains, measure from the top of the pole and add 4cm.

For tab-headed curtains, measure from the top of the pole.

For ruffle top, measure from the underside of the curtain ring and add 5cm.

For rod pocket, measure from the top of the pole.

From the appropriate point:

  1. Measure to 1 cm above the still length.
  2. The desired length for below still length.
  3. 1cm above the floor for full length.

Measuring for Pelmets

• To determine pelmet length, divide the curtain length by 6.
• For pelmet width, measure the distance between the wall and the front of the pelmet (a), track along the length (b) and back to the wall (c), then add these values together.
• For upholsterer pelmets, only measure the width of the curtain track from end to end, then add 5cm.

For an arched pelmet, the finished pelmet length measurement is taken from the top of the pelmet track to the midpoint.

Pelmet sides will be 20cm longer.
